Arathi Basin Double-Honor Weekend
Ever since I acquired my beautiful black raptor mount, my presence in any battleground has been scarce. You might even understand this, given that towards the end of the 4-month grind to Rank 11, I was spending 3-4 hours every weeknight, and up to 10 hours each day of the weekend in order to acquire well over 200,000 honor points each week.
With the upcoming patch v1.12, the battleground system will be changing to blend Greymane with about a dozen other servers (Battlegroup #8), and may well make battlegrounds a completely different experience. With the Burning Crusade expansion pack, the concept of PvP ranking as it stands will be going right out the door, replaced by what sounds like contribution/experience points that can be accrued and spent… on what exactly remains to be seen.
Several people over the past several months have indicated interest in getting their feet wet. Well, your time has come! This weekend is Arathi Basin (AB) double-honor — which essentially means that even if you lose, you still get a decent chunk of honor, and because of that, every n00b to ever fondle a mouse will be there. AB is (IMH0) the easiest, sanest, and most enjoyable battleground: 15 vs. 15, 30-ish minute time limit, king-of-the-mountain sort of game.
Although I expect Necromage, Gorysh, and myself to be in and out all weekend, we’re going to try to gather any and all 60’s around 10pm Greymane (8pm PST), on Saturday. We also encourage the 50-59 members to do the same, and I may well bring Skykomish along for a few.

Well… I was late, due to a cascade effect from The Afflicted starting late, and as such, finishing late in Blackwing Lair.
However, when I logged on, there were only a couple of people around, and after a couple of AB’s, I decided my time might well be better spent slaughtering Nethergarde miners…
So, maybe some other time. =]

The battle grounds have changed a lot. The last time I spent any amount of time in Arathi Basin I was in my late 30’s, and a warlock. So I decided to run a few this weekend as a level 60 Priest. It is as different as night and day.
I remembered that as soon as you got into a BG, you requested an invite, listened to what the plan is going to be, and then pretty much did what ever you wanted to because no one listened to anyone else. You just ran around trying to stay alive and collected the HK’s, ya gotta be alive for the HK’s. It was a fun free for all. I tried to stay away from the Alliance Zergs and picked people off from the edges. But, that was the good old days.
Fast forward to a new day, a new level, a new character, and basically a new game.
I popped in, requested an invite, “Invite pls”, nothing. This was getting frustrating. On my third AB of the night with not one single invite, I said in the Arathi Basin channel, “No invite, No heals”. I then receive an invite from a Warlock who had not received a raid invite either. So there we were, an Army of two with me healing my new Warlock friend…
I was in one AV - we lost, but I placed #2 in killing blows. (or maybe 4th, I forget, I have the screen shot. If it is #2, I will post it. If it says that I was #4, I will not be able to post it, crappy computer !!)
I was in 5 AB’s - we lost 4 and won one. I was slaughtered in all of them. During the one winning effort, I found a very strong Orc warrior that I followed around, I healed him and he killed everything. Worked well. Funny though, when I died, so did he, hmmm.
I did have fun and I will be back, there is a nice staff with my name on it, I just have to convince The Defilers that my name is [Ironbark Staff].
Cheers
