It’s a major suicide run, but we’re considering a series of guild contests. Some of the more common ideas were a duel tournament or instance farming races, but one of the most interesting was a race to the Dark Portal. Oh, that might not sound too challenging (to those who have been to the southern Blasted Lands), but here’s the kicker…

Your team has to bring a level 1 alt with you.

The first team there would win some sort of prize, although the prize itself has yet to be decided, it could range from items to gold, or other possible rewards. Perhaps bragging rights would be sufficient… who knows.

Here are the rules:

• Start: The Den in the Valley of Trials, in Durotar. All teams will set out at the same time.
• One party member must be level 1 at the start (though will likely be a few levels bigger upon reaching the Dark Portal).
• Teams may take any path they desire, but must stick together. Scouting ahead is okay.
• Teams may not use portals or summoning. Ressurection leap-frogging is not allowed — you must run back to your body or be rezzed.
• Teams must make it all the way to the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands, which will likely include dealing with a high-level elite or two.
• Teams may be of any composition of class, professions, and levels.

If this sounds interesting to you, let us know and we’ll start further planning of the event, figuring out rewards, and when the event should take place.

Last night, in an attempt to 1) make another UBRS key, 2) complete [60] Warlord’s Command for the chain involving killing Rend in UBRS, and 3) to complete various other LBRS quests…

No gems. Bastards. But, we did get some phat lewt. A LOT of phat lewt.

[Update]: After a couple of ill-fated experiments, and an instance lockup due to the Rend Arena, the FNF ended well before midnight. However, a second team arose from the ashes of the raid and saw fit to take out Scarlet Stratholme.

If you’d like me to: “[summon] a Mana Spring Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 24 sec that restores 27 mana every 2 seconds to group members within 20 yards. ” every 3 minutes while in group situations. Please help me run through Sunken Temple to get the feathers. I’ve been in there partway once before with a really crappy pug (I pretended to be lagging just so I could watch them die as I neglected to tank/heal/care).

If you have elemental earth, wind, fire, and water, you might want to help poor Maanae out by donating one of each so she can get on this quest too. If she’s gonna be Resto spec, she’ll be an in-combat drinking fountain like the mages out of combat. Either way. All guild shamans need this trinket. No excuses, just too good to pass up.

Monday night, we will be venturing into Blackrock Depths to visit the Dark Forge — the only place where you can smelt Dark Iron. If you are interested in joining, especially if you need to smelt, or want to learn (you have to be a miner), be sure to sign up. The start time is 11pm Greymane (9pm PST). This is later than normal, and may be further delayed, but is only expected to run a couple of hours at most.

[Edit] We’re done! The first 45 minutes or so was sans-healer, as Necromage, Ungulataur, Bomosnipah, and Skykomish managed to make it to the Grim Guzzler without much incident (okay, a death here and there, but nothing major), but a wipe right after the bar dampened our spirits. Upon regrouping, we managed to take out the trash, and then the Ambassador, making it to the Seven Dwarves before Dixi arrived as the little savior she is (okay, disciple).

• Runed Golem Shackles went to Necromage.
• Cape of the Fire Salamander needed by Bomosnipah, shafting Skykomish.
• Deathdealer Breastplate needed by Bomosnipah.
• Blood-etched Blade d/e’d to LBS for Bomosnipah.

I’m using links from WoW Head rather than ThottBot for a few reasons… it looks slick, loads fast (hosted by IGN), and plans on having an XML feed, which means one day, we might be able to tie our loot into their stuff automatically rather than look all these links up first. =]
