How to: Guild Chat Window

With all the action in WoW, I found that I was missing a lot of “important” messages what with the default setup of the General and Combat windows. One of the first new windows I made was one specifically for the Guild…

Click for normal size...

  1. Hover on the chat window and you’ll see it has a tab (or multiple tabs if you’ve never changed them). Right-click on a tab and select Create New Window.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the name of the window. I chose Hellfire Club, but you could pick anything you want, like Noisy Guildies
  3. Your new window will appear as a new tab on the General pane. You could leave it there, but you would need to remember to click on the tab in order to see Guild conversations. Instead, as in my example, I tore the tab free (left-click & drag) and set it above the default windows.
  4. Lastly, you need to filter messages: Right-click the guild window’s tab, and below the aptly named Filters heading are a series of message categories. In all these categories, make sure only Guild is checked. Then, in the General tab, uncheck Guild.

As an option, you can change what color the Guild messages show up as, what color the window’s background is, and how transparent it is. If you drag the window to the other side of the screen, the scroll-up, -down, and -bottom buttons will flip to the right side of the window.

That’s it! You’re done… unless you get carried away like me. I have Combat torn off and stacked above the Guild window, and I have a second tab on General for S P A M, containing the trade channels, people making bandages, Barren’s chat, LFG, and some other stuff that bored me to tears, leaving only whispers, quest/xp/rep, looting, and a couple other things in my General pane. =]

Quests at 60

You probably saw Jalo’s post a while back about instances and quest chains for high level characters. However, what with the Burning Crusade due out in short order, this leads me to believe that I’m going to want to prepare my push to 70 much like I had getting to 60: quests give a lot of experience.

Now, on one hand, I’m certain with all the new content, new areas, and instances, that there will probably be hundreds, if not over 1000 new quests… but why waste the easy quests that are available now? Money, rewards, and reputation may have been fine before, but I think that changes when the levelcap is raised.

I’m not the only one who feels this way, but I’ve also heard from several people that they plan on doing quests in the meantime regardless, since the new content will probably have more than enough quests to make hitting at least 63 a breeze. I believe that too… I just want to make it even easier. =]

Signup for UBRS

Friday’s event will be Upper Blackrock Spire. This is a 10-man instance, and signups are now available.

UBRS Schedule Signup

And… don’t forget to vote for next week’s event.

[Edit] The run was an amazing sucess! We downed Pyroguard Emberseer, Warchief Rend Blackhand and his dragon Gyth, and on our second attempt, killed The Beast. Congratulations to all in attendance. Next time we’ll get General Drakkisath!

Hillsbrad 5 - HFC 973

Yeah, it wasn’t even close.

Last night, Maanae and Bomosnipah, along with Joco, Kurdt, and Quorthon, cruised thru various Hillsbrad related quests. Southshore Guards claimed the first HFC death of the night, before the group was fully… uh… grouped. After that, there was a sort of a bloodbath in Dun Garok, as the elite dwarf priests smote a few more. (It was just as bad as I’d remembered it).

The shoreline was a mess, as every naga and murloc from the east to the west was slaughtered for their Fish Oil and Shiny Scales. Nobody knew Maanae was that bloodthirsty, but when the first pass was over, she was atop the damage meters by a good 20,000 damage. Later, Bomosnipah admited to “holding back”, but didn’t want to defeat Maanae’s moment of glory.

The night didn’t last much longer. Some councilmembers and miners paid with their lives, and Bomo tripped everyone up by feigning in the middle of a couple of rough battles…
