The Final Final Boss

It was an incredibly late night in Scholomance, October 30th… As a guild, we have gotten very very good at utterly destroying the school of magic, such that there are rarely any deaths. Well, all that changed last night.

In the wake of Jalo’s acquisition of the [Beaststalker’s Cap], Bomosnipah wants nothing more than to acquire the helm himself. Additionally, Ungulataur is chomping at the bit to complete the epic shammy quest to recieve his [Skyfury Helm]. Helms for everyone… well, at least those two (and later Paed). So, Necromage, Skykomish, and Paed join the adventure.

Normally when we face Rattlegore, we only pull 3 or 4 of his peeps before yanking him from the room and shattering his bones all over the stairway. Last night was no exception. What was different, was that then we continued to clear the room. Then, in the center, Ungulataur dropped a little beacon thing, and wave after wave of spirit came from the bones to attack us. This is the first time Necromage died.

Death Knight Darkreaver slain by HFC.The waves continued until finally Death Knight Darkreaver came on what has to be the ghostly version of the Blood Elf Paladin’s epic mount. He died. Easily. In fact, the waves and boss were almost disappointing. The adrenaline and fear of finally wiping in this all-too-familiar instance started to drain, but left the group quite awake.

To save time getting to Darkmaster Gandling, the group skipped Ras Frostwhisper and Kirontos, as they add a good 15 minutes to the instance. Both drop guaranteed blues, but we would have only sharded them… In the first instructor’s room (Lorekeeper Polkelt), Necromage died on every pull. Every pull. It was literally hilarious after the endurance run of spirits in Rattlegore’s room.

The rest of the instance, including the dropping of Gandling was without incident. The interesting thing was that normally on a Scholomance visit, there are roughly 12 rare items, most, if not all, are disenchanted. On this run there were 9 items, and only 2 were sharded…

  • [Rattlecage Buckler] disenchanted for Necromage.
  • [Malicious Axe] disenchanted for Necromage.
  • [Dreadmist Wraps] went to Bomosnipah.
  • [Wildheart Bracers] went to Paed.
  • [Burial Shawl] needed by Paed.
  • [Bloodmail Gauntlets] needed by Ungulataur.
  • [Bloodmail Boots] needed by Ungulataur.
  • [Bonecreeper Stylus] needed by Necromage, shafting Paed.
  • [Dreadmist Mask] needed by Paed.

Mid-Night: Uldaman & SM

The votes were close, but this week’s Mid-Night is Uldaman. However, since a lot of our mid-level characters might be a bit too small (levels 41-51), or have never run to Kargath (it’s a long run) to get the flight path, there will also be a run for Scarlet Monastary for additional lewt & to finish off those quests.

Welcome New Guildies!

We have several new guildies, so please welcome them all. Among them are Codeine and Malacrus, but there are several others that I cannot recall offhand…

For all members, new and old, make sure you have made a login in both the forums (where we hold several discussions and where the high and mid level instance votes live) and the scheduler (so you can sign up for instances in advance so we know who and how many are interested in a particular run).

We have a loose guideline for the sorts of events we run on a weekly basis, the most common of which:

  • Monday Farming Runs: where we run mid-to-high level instances that are easy to do in a farming fashion for gold, reputation, or other similar objectives, such as BRD, LBRS, or Scholo.
  • Wednesday’s Mid Night: a mid-level instance, decided around midnight each Monday based upon the votes in the forums, ranging from Razorfen Kraul up to Maraudon, with a current emphasis on Scarlet Monastary, since that’s where the bulk of our midlevel members are interested in.
  • Friday Night Fight: the big instance of the week, for level 58 or higher characters. Our current progression is to the final boss of UBRS, General Drakkisath. This instance is also decided by voting in the forums.

So, once again, welcome!

Hunter Goes Home Happy

Scholomance is getting to the point where it’s almost a breeze. In fact, this last venture in, we only had one death (Paed), when Jalo, Sky, and Paed tried to pull the 3 casters & spectre near the start of the instance. They sucessfully completed the pull, but Paed had to run back…

Shortly thereafter Necromage joined, and then Bomosnipah. The remainder of the instance was fast and without casualties. The entire run took just under 2 hours, taking slight detours to kill Kirontos and Ras Frostwhisper.

In the end, Darkmaster Gandling dropped the Hunter’s Dungeon 1 Helm, and with two hunters present, Jalo went home happy.

  • [Book: Gift of the Wild II] went to Skykomish.
  • [Frightalon] disenchanted for Bomosnipah.
  • [Loomguard Armbraces] disenchanted for Necromage.
  • [Deadwalker Mantle] disenchanted for Paed.
  • [Shivery Handwraps] disenchanted for Bomosnipah.
  • [Maelstrom Leggings] disenchanted for Bomosnipah.
  • [Sapphiron’s Scale Boots] went to Jalo.
  • [Dreadmist Wraps] went to Jalo.
  • [Totem of Sustaining] disenchanted for Jalo.
  • [Necropile Mantle] disenchanted for Paed.
  • [Beaststalker’s Cap] needed by Jalo, shafting Bomosnipah.
  • [Tombstone Breastplate] disenchanted for Necromage.

New (and hopefully final) Spec for Ungulataur

Here it is folks:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=GZVV0zZEfcxVfqo

I’m hoping to make this my last since it does manage to start costing too much to continue my experiments in researching the perfect non-pvp shaman spec. This one hopefully gives me the best of the Restoration tree with a few fun bonuses from the Enhancement tree (gotta keep 2H-maces/axes if I spent all that time in Alterac Valley trying to get the Unstoppable Force, right?).

Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that.
