Admit it, you’ve been to Blackrock Depths so many times that it literally makes you sick. The instance is huge, the largest of all instances, and 90% of it is optional, depending on what you’re actually there to do. Questing? Reputation? Attunement? Smelting? Farming? It does have a wide range of uses… but most of us have never completed the instance.

For many of us, there were two objectives remaining: free the prisoner, and kill the emperor. Last night, Jalo, Necromage, Dixi, Skykomish, and Aed sucessfully lit the torches, felled Magmus — a boss previously never killed by the guild, dropped all of the Senators, and dethroned Emperor Dagran Thaurissan, effectively saving Princess Moira Bronzebeard — not for Thrall, not even intentionally; simply because we held her to kill second and once the Emperor died, she turned friendly…

So, what started out as a fast smelting run, where Aed learned for the first time, and we made it to the forge in under an hour. There were even a couple of side routes taken. The drops were mostly farm-worthy, but towards the end, people did start needing things:

• [Warstrife Leggings] were disenchanted. Aed won the [Large Brilliant Shard].
• [Burst of Knowledge] was disenchanted. Necromage won the [Large Brilliant Shard].
• [Wraith Scythe] was disenchanted. Jalo won the [Large Brilliant Shard].
• [Ghostshroud] was disenchanted. Necromage won the [Large Brilliant Shard].
• [Golem Skull Helm] was needed by Skykomish. Aed was shafted.
• [Tome of Arcane Brilliance] was won by Dixi.
• [Guiding Stave of Wisdom] was disenchanted. Jalo won the [Large Brilliant Shard].
• [Hand of Justice] was needed by Jalo. Aed was shafted. Again.
