Guild ranks and you: Volunteer for a leadership position.

As noted in my last Soapbox post, we’re going to need some leaders for different areas of Hellfire Club, the biggest little guild on Greymane. The following positions are the first to be voted on. If you would like to be considered for one of these positions or if there is a position that you think needs to be added, please comment on this post and I will set up a vote on our forums next week. Next to each position are the responsibilities for each; though the responsibilities are a general overview and not a comprehensive list. The responsibilities may change in their details over time, but in general these tasks listed below are things that a leader can expect to do from time to time. Each position below will come with the rank of Veteran for the character in question.

  • Raid Leader – Works with the Scheduler to form a raid party with the most optimal composition (based on the raid/instance strategies and the voting sequence from the forums). The Raid Leader assigns, as necessary, the Main Tank, Main Assist, Disenchanter, Crowd Control, Loot Tracker, and other functions within a run. The Raid Leader is also responsible for ensuring that each run has it’s loot and the receivers of the loot is listed on the Hellfire Club website within 2 hours after the run is finished.
  • Scheduler – Maintains the voting and scheduling of raids/instances based on majority votes within the forums. Works directly with the Raid Leader to ensure that those who need to go on certain runs are placed within a run as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Works directly with the forum moderator(s) to ensure that overall voting is both timely and consistent.
  • Class Leader – Maintains the specific Class section of the guild website with tips, tricks, and insight into their specific Class. A Class Leader is also a resource for new and/or advancing characters for class-specific help in-game, strategies in raids, instances, PVP, and quests. Develops, maintains, and/or finds and references Class guides and strategies on the specific Class section of the guild website.
  • Profession Leader – Maintains the specific Profession section of the guild website with tips, tricks, and insight into their specific Profession. A Profession Leader is also a resource for new and/or advancing characters for profession-specific help in-game, strategies in raids, instances, PVP, and quests. Develops, maintains, and/or finds and references Profession guides and strategies on the specific Profession section of the guild website.
  • Bank Examiner – Coordinates with the official guild bank characters to ensure that weekly updates are made using the latest version of Guild Ads. Also informs Officers and the GM of issues pertaining to bank-specific issues (e.g. – when we are running low on a specific herb, ore, etc.).
  • Website Coordinator – Maintains the overall operations of the guild website and ensures that each section is maintained and kept current. Implements new pages and updates as necessary and works directly with the Officers and the GM to ensure that the guild website is free of errors, typos, and is easy to use.
  • Forum Moderator – Ensures that the forums are maintained properly, invites/removes new members, and performs clean up of the forum posts as necessary. Works directly with the Scheduler to ensure that voting is both accurate and efficient.

In general each position will require enough time both in-game and out that a player should only volunteer for one position, with the possible exception of Class and Profession Leaders.

Just a FYI… I read that WoW is going to set up guild banks in the near future.

  2. Vaharneim replied:

    I nominate Quorthon as Scheduler.

  3. Bomosnipah replied:

I’m not power-hungry or ambitious, but I’m willing.

I strive to do my job well, I don’t care if I have any authority, as long as I am a benefit to the guild/group/raid.

    I’m available for class-leader, and/or profession-leader. (Hunter, engineering)

“If nominated, I will not accept; if drafted, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve.”

Heh, seriously, I don’t mind scheduling Retro Night, and I could probably take on Mid-Night as well, but given that I’m out of town a lot of weekends during the summer, doing FNF too might be a bit much. Someone who regularly runs FNF should probably do that one, anyway.

  5. Tim replied:

Well… I have Hfcherb and have my Druid as a main and a 375 leatherworker. My issue is my availability. I often travel on Friday.
But if there is a need, I’ll take Leatherworking and Druid (feral, resto can fall under the healer class leader). I would suggest I take the Hfcleathers stock and transfer Hfcherbs stock to the lead alchemist.
If it is not in my cards to have anything that is great too, fly on the wall is sometimes a good place to sit.

  6. Quorthon replied:

I don’t know if I classify as the “lead alchemist”, but I’d be willing to take on the Hfcherb bank.

  7. Gorysh replied:

That’s it? No one else wants to lend a hand doing anything for the guild? Please spread the word about this website and make sure that people are checking the forums AND this site!

  8. Redfre replied:

Well if Gorysh doesn’t want to be the Rogue Class Leader in addition to all his other duties, Redfre is willing and probably able. I’m a bit weak in the raid experience area but all a Rogue does is get behind the mob and stab repeatedly anyway right?

And if i end up moderating part of the forum i could certainly add the overall forum moderation duties to my routine if you all are OK with that. I check them (almost) every morning already and usually at least one more time later on so i’d have no problem spending a few extra minutes doing the member additions and other housekeeping duties on a daily basis.

  9. Travysh replied:

Only thing I’d be comfortable with is Shaman class leader, but that’s kinda Ungy’s thing.

I’d vote for people though if there was a vote :)

  10. Redfre replied:

Not sure if this stuff is going anywhere anyway but i have to withdraw my volunteering. I have been asked to be an officer in another guild where i have alts. Obviously i am not abandoning Redfre, he is my main after all. Just don’t think it would be right to divvy up my limited leadership capabilities between 2 guilds.
