Prince has a Deathwish

Down to 37% I hear. Good job! One-shotting everything else (except the evading Curator adds issue), excellent!

The signups are posted, but as a reminder to everyone, there isn’t a permanent signup list that just says you’re always available. You must sign up for each run you would like to attend. The roster selected from the signups is random based on role (tank/heal/dps) so it doesn’t matter if you’re first to sign up, or well over the limit. Please see our forums for more information.

Sign up for the 1/15 Tuesday Pre-clear.
Sign up for the 1/18 Friday Night Fight.

Guild ranks and you: Volunteer for a leadership position.

As noted in my last Soapbox post, we’re going to need some leaders for different areas of Hellfire Club, the biggest little guild on Greymane. The following positions are the first to be voted on. If you would like to be considered for one of these positions or if there is a position that you think needs to be added, please comment on this post and I will set up a vote on our forums next week. Next to each position are the responsibilities for each; though the responsibilities are a general overview and not a comprehensive list. The responsibilities may change in their details over time, but in general these tasks listed below are things that a leader can expect to do from time to time. Each position below will come with the rank of Veteran for the character in question.

  • Raid Leader - Works with the Scheduler to form a raid party with the most optimal composition (based on the raid/instance strategies and the voting sequence from the forums). The Raid Leader assigns, as necessary, the Main Tank, Main Assist, Disenchanter, Crowd Control, Loot Tracker, and other functions within a run. The Raid Leader is also responsible for ensuring that each run has it’s loot and the receivers of the loot is listed on the Hellfire Club website within 2 hours after the run is finished.
  • Scheduler - Maintains the voting and scheduling of raids/instances based on majority votes within the forums. Works directly with the Raid Leader to ensure that those who need to go on certain runs are placed within a run as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Works directly with the forum moderator(s) to ensure that overall voting is both timely and consistent.
  • Class Leader - Maintains the specific Class section of the guild website with tips, tricks, and insight into their specific Class. A Class Leader is also a resource for new and/or advancing characters for class-specific help in-game, strategies in raids, instances, PVP, and quests. Develops, maintains, and/or finds and references Class guides and strategies on the specific Class section of the guild website.
  • Profession Leader - Maintains the specific Profession section of the guild website with tips, tricks, and insight into their specific Profession. A Profession Leader is also a resource for new and/or advancing characters for profession-specific help in-game, strategies in raids, instances, PVP, and quests. Develops, maintains, and/or finds and references Profession guides and strategies on the specific Profession section of the guild website.
  • Bank Examiner - Coordinates with the official guild bank characters to ensure that weekly updates are made using the latest version of Guild Ads. Also informs Officers and the GM of issues pertaining to bank-specific issues (e.g. - when we are running low on a specific herb, ore, etc.).
  • Website Coordinator - Maintains the overall operations of the guild website and ensures that each section is maintained and kept current. Implements new pages and updates as necessary and works directly with the Officers and the GM to ensure that the guild website is free of errors, typos, and is easy to use.
  • Forum Moderator - Ensures that the forums are maintained properly, invites/removes new members, and performs clean up of the forum posts as necessary. Works directly with the Scheduler to ensure that voting is both accurate and efficient.

In general each position will require enough time both in-game and out that a player should only volunteer for one position, with the possible exception of Class and Profession Leaders.

Guild ranks and you: A Primer.

As mentioned previously, I have restructured how the ranking and titles within Hellfire Club (HFC) are set up, and a new system will evolve so that those who are interested can rise up through the guild ranks. The word “evolve” was specifically used since I want it to grow as organically as possible based on the natural direction of the guild and it’s progress within the game. As Guild Master (GM) I will, of course, make course corrections when necessary (read: as I see fit).

At the time of this post most characters have been set to the rank of “Member”. The guild ranks above Member will work sort of like leveling in-game reputation, but instead of rep getting you in-game rewards like special mounts, etc., the ranks within HFC give you in-guild rewards. The rewards in question will vary, but will be things like class leadership positions, additional and/or direct input to guild direction, the ability to invite others into our happy family of characters, and more.

For details on the ranks and their meanings, please check out the Guild Ranks page.

That’s about it for now… more details and information will be posted as necessary. Please feel free to comment on this post with questions, requests, etc.

Guild Member information and updates.

To all Guild members in good standing with Hellfire Club:
I am currently in the process of coming up with a new method to determine Guild ranking (Initiate, Member, Veteran, and Officer). The new rankings will be disseminated on a scale based on leadership, guild recruitment efforts, initiative, helpfulness, availability, recommendations from others, and other factors. A list of requirements and/or objectives for each level will be posted, though the final decision of ranking will fall solely on my shoulders. Some current Officers may be made Members, some Members may become Officers, and every other combination of changes is possible. The idea is that the Guild ranks should mean something and not be some arbitrary assignment.

Reminder to current Veterans and Officers:
If/when you /ginvite someone, please be sure to put their first name in their profile, as well as your name as the recruiter. This allows everyone to know who we all are and who we can talk to about the circumstances around the recruits entry into Hellfire Club. Please go through the list of characters in the Guild information link and update any members that you see who are not updated yet and whom you know about. You have until June 8th to make any adjustments necessary in order to count toward the updated Guild ranks as I described earlier in this post. Thanks!

HFC Website Orientation

Welcome to Hellfire Club. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or long-time troll, there are several key points of interest in the website for your pleasure.

Hello, I’m Lieutenant General Vaharneim. Don’t let the title intimidate you, I’m really an okay person. (Really!) Since I’m a glutton for punishment, I tend to handle most of the PR — website, scheduling, etc. I’ve got a few alts, the most notable is Skykomish, whom many of you know as one of our tanks. Now that introductions are out of the way, on with the show!

First off, I’d like to draw your attention to the forums. Due to forum-spamming, our forums are restricted to login, so please create one if you haven’t already. Your login doesn’t have to be the name of your toon, but if it isn’t, I would highly suggest tweaking your forum profile or sig to indicate who you are.

Within the forums you’ll see a couple of polls for the Friday Night Fight and Mid-Night instances. These are weekly in-game events based on popular demand. Obviously, the more members participating in the polls, the better response and likelyhood that the instances that are chosen are those that people actually want/need to visit.

Next, the schedule… a place to schedule upcoming events and instance runs, and to sign up for those events. Currently, the logins are not shared between forums, schedule, and this main info-site, so you will need to create a profile for the schedule as well. This allows you to record your various characters, levels, and other details that help with assembling groups ahead of time. Usually, when an event is announced, there’s a post about it linking directly to the signups in the schedule. This eliminates the need to browse around and find the event you want — but you can do that too, if you like. :)

Along the left side of the page, you’ll see all sorts of navigational links. Some are well maintained, and others were nice ideas when we started the site, but have been neglected. Almost all of it, however, is merely additional information about the guild, what we do, what we’ve done, and some aspriations for the future — all the while staying as family-friendly as possible. Browse through them when you get a chance, and feel free to post any ideas or opinions in our forums.

Welcome, have fun, and I’ll see you in-game!
