You may have noticed red and green gnomes running around, brightly colored lights, big decorated trees, and a [Hardpacked Snowball] or two knocking you around in Alterac Valley… well, WoW’s Holiday Content is here.
Along with several quests to make cookies for Greatfather Winter, save a reindeer and the like, are also special items available only this time of year. Red and Green Winter Hats can be obtained from several instance bosses: [Red Winter Hat] from Emperor Dagran Thaurissan (BRD), Warmaster Voone (LBRS), and Cannon Master Willey (Scarlet Strat); [Green Winter Hat] from Darkmaster Gandling (Scholo), Prince Tortheldrin (DM West), and Goraluk Anvilcrack (UBRS).
- Blacksmiths can get a present from Greatfather Winter — [Plans: Edge of Winter] which lets them make a nice little axe.
- Enchanters should be on the lookout for [Formula: Enchant Weapon - Winter’s Might] giving weapons a boost to Frost spell damage.
- Engineers get [Schematic: Snowmaster 9000] giving them the power to make snowballs all year long.
- And more… Check the Auction House if you don’t get the plans you wanted!
One word of advice, however… the quest to give milk and cookies to Greatfather Winter… Go to the Inn in Orgrimmar and buy a stack of [Ice Cold Milk] (5), and separate them in your inventory. This will cost you 1s 25c if you have no reputation discounts. Place the 4 you do not need into the AH at default bid, 10s buyout. Within an hour, all will have sold, netting you a healthy profit. Last year I made a good 20 gold doing this, and from the looks of the AH this year, people are doing the same thing, but with much greedier prices. Keep your buyout low enough, and don’t overstock, and you’ll be fine…
For the eggs, head to Mulgore and kill the Swoops just east of Thunder Bluff. The droprate is fairly high, and you should have 5 in short order. I even ran across a rarespawn I’d never seen before, Ghost Howl, which I think would make a dazzling pet. I’ve never seen a pure-white wolf before.
