Guild Ranks

Here is a general overview of each title in ascending order. Please contact the GM for additional details, questions, suggestions, &/or requests:

Each higher rank/title carries with it the benefits described in any rank below it:

  • Initiate: This is the rank that every guild member starts at, and is, in essence, the rank and title for those who we are feeling out to see if they are a good fit for Hellfire Club. The rank of Initiate lasts as long as necessary for the members of HFC to determine the if the guild and the Initiate in question are a good match. Typically 30-45 days from the initial invite is satisfactory, but the time may vary based on the Initiate’s playing schedule (e.g. - if the Initiate only plays once a month, 30 days would not be enough time to evaluate them), issues (both good and bad) that arise from the Initiate’s actions, and other factors. If you are an Initiate, please be patient… we review the status of non-Members all the time. Initiates may read (though not post to) the guild website, participate (read/write) in the forums, and sign up for raids/instances. Please note that sign up priority is given to Members (or higher) for raid and event sign ups. An Initiate generally has no more than 90 days from their /ginvite to become a Member or they will be removed from the guild. Quick ways out of the guild are spamming, asking for gold/items from other characters, poor attitude, not adhering to guild policy, and being a general nuisance. The preceding was NOT an exhaustive list. Initiates may not participate in or use the following Guild privileges:
    • Petition for or sponsor new members into Hellfire Club,
    • Use funds from the Guild Bank to repair, or
    • Remove, use, or request items from the Guild Bank.
  • Member: This is the most common title for any character in good standing within HFC and the rank which the overwhelming majority of players within the guild will ever remain unless they decide to become a Raider. A Member of Hellfire Club has been deemed worthy of staying in the guild by a majority of his/her guildmates and is allowed use of the Guild Bank, standard placement in Raid/Instance runs, and other general benefits of membership in HFC. Members can petition a Veteran or an Officer to invite a new member that they have recruited into Hellfire Club. Having a friend within the guild does not guarantee a rank of Member to anyone.
  • Raider: A Raider is a member of the guild who has participated in &/or achieved a “keyed” status in Karazhan or any instance beyond it during the Burning Crusade expansions.
    • During the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion, previous Raiders will remain at their current rank. Members who are not Raiders by time the Wrath of the Lich King expansion comes out will remain at their current rank until such time when new requirements will be put in place to identify Raiders. At this point, Burning Crusade-era Raiders will be re-evaluated based on their player status and may possibly be lowered in rank to Member if appropriate. Said lowering in rank would not be disciplinary in nature, but rather indicative of their current (future?) playing style.
  • Veteran: Veterans are the first line of leaders within Hellfire Club; those who are an integral part of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of guild affairs. They are often tasked by the Officers to help with events or other guild-related tasks. A players designation as a Veteran generally fall into one of the following categories:
    • Leadership: Players who have specific jobs which require additional work both online and offline.
    • Honorary: In rare instances a Veteran title will be given under special circumstances for specific achievements such as guild recruitment. Such title endowment is under the sole discretion of the Officers and GM.

The Officers and Guild Master are the final arbiters of each position filled by a Veteran who takes on a leadership role. These players accept additional areas of responsibility and consistently show initiative above and beyond the call of duty in furthering the overall success of the guild at large, and as such Veterans are the first rank that can invite new members into HFC, and as such are expected to do so with the guilds best interests at heart. Veteran status can change based on updated votes &/or requests, voluntary demotion, or changes in the needs of the guild at large. The rank of Veteran is a rare and prestigious privilege,  and players of this rank or higher should be respected as such.

  • Officer: The Officers of the guild are the inner circle of advisers, leaders, &/or guild advocates and report directly to the Guild Master on all matters; from guild recruitment, bank access/changes, in-guild problems, etc. If the GM is not available and something important needs to be decided upon, the Officers will confer with each other and make a binding decision. Beyond that they help take care of the day-to-day operations, scheduling, &/or direction of the guild. Officers have broad-stroke authority within the guild and help police any issues that arise, up to and including the ability /gkick a player if necessary. Officers are assigned by the GM and new Officers may be added as necessary.
  • Guild Master: That’s me, Gorysh. I generally stay on the periphery of things and let the guild self-govern itself, but I do step in as necessary to resolve conflicts and make decisions on big-picture policy for HFC. I try to let the guild evolve on it’s own as much as possible, but I step in to ensure that the overall course of the guild remains as intended. My number one concerns are to make sure that everything is running smoothly and that everyone is having FUN.
