Raid and event signups

The sign up process

To signup for a Raid or a guild event (a “run”) you need to create an account. To do so follow the steps below and the Scheduler Maintainer(s) (SM’s) will do the rest for you (currently Dixi/Sagaris).

  1. Open your browser to the Scheduler.
  2. Click “Register” on the left.
  3. Fill in the blanks.
  4. Click submit.
  5. Then, keep checking back. Once the SM’s see your request for an account they will accept your request, assign you permissions that will allow you to add your characters to the system and then you’ll be able to sign up for a run.
  6. You will receive an email from the SM’s similar to this:

You should be setup with HFC scheduler
    Goto: http://www.tikiweb.net/wow/schedule/profile.php?mode=view
Add your character(s) and start signing up for the fun.
Please let the SM’s know via in-game email if you have any questions.

  7. Done.
  8. Sign up for any run that you are interested in and then keep checking the forums to see if you are scheduled to run.
  9. Keep checking the scheduler for new runs. They will ALWAYS be posted there if it a planned guild run.

Updates

Keep your character current, otherwise you might be blocked from runs that you are qualified for. For example, a KZ run requires level 70, but your level 70 characters profile is still showing level 68. The scheduler only knows what you tell it.

Couples

The SM’s need to know who wants to join a run with another character (e.g. – your wife, girlfriend, etc.). We want to honor these requests, but you have to tell the SM’s who you (both) are.

What the SM’s will do is if Samson and Delilah want to run together and they tell the SM’s so, the SM’s will make a note and watch for their signups. If they both sign up for a run and they both get into the run via rolls or immunity, great, they are in.

If one, lets say Samson, does not make the run and is scheduled for the bench, but Delilah did make the run, the SM’s will pull Delilah onto the bench. This way both Samson and Delilah will gain immunity to be used on the next run they sign up for and they will make it in.

If only Samson or Delilah signs up for a run, they will be treated just like everyone else. This will allow the couples to play together and does not impact any of our other guild members.

The Officers understand that in the long run the couples will be in less runs, but every run they have with be with the one person they want to run with themost. You sacrifice a little individual raiding and gain a lot to raid as a couple. This seems to best solution for the couples and the guild as a whole.

Immunity

Originally, immunity was based upon butts in the seats (account level), but this did not work so well when we started having butts (accounts) in our guild who had more that one level 70 keyed for KZ that filled different roles. Let’s use Dixi/Sagaris as an example:

Dixi/Sagaris signed up for a run with Sagaris and ended up on the losing end of the rolls. He’s on the bench, isn’t needed, and gains immunity. The next run he signs up with Dixi to heal. Dixi would have immunity against the other healers, even though she had not earned that immunity against the healers, she had earned it against the DPS classes. Not really fair to the healers.

So, we have opted for a role distinction when tracking immunity. Tanks, Healers, and DPSers. So, the DPS immunity for Dixi/Saris is only for Sagaris; Dixi the healer is on her own. Same with Skykomish/Vaharneim, Travysh/Paineyota and all of the other players who have multiple max-level characters. This is also why we need multiple role classes to let us know when they change. When Dixi shifted from DPS to Healing, her immunity was lost and she is now lumped with the healers, without immunity.

Our goal is to be fair while getting as many people into the raids as possible. Anyone who signs up has a chance to run. If you are on the bench, then your chances to run next time have gone way up. If you do not sign up, your chances to run are significantly less.

So far the system has been working for all involved. Most people who sign up for a run get into the run. We have had very few people on the bench at any given time. For those people who have been on the bench, it is usually a long time before they were “benched” again.

Requirements

We as a guild have decided to stick with our current policy of not enforcing any requirements to join any run/raid beyond those already in place by Blizzard.

  • Minimum level,
  • Minimum Reputation,
  • Keyed (as necessary), and
  • Pre-requisite instance(s) and/or quests completed.

If Blizzard will allow you in, we will allow you in; but we do expect our members to exercise some common sense. Also, in certain rare and/or unusual cases additional requirements may be made. The Officers and Raid/Event Leaders will make these known on a case-by-case basis.

We feel that this approach, while it might slow down some members who are further along in raid progression, in the long run will benefit the guild and therefore benefit all of its members. We will finish Karazhan with a guild of 20+ geared, confident members instead of 6-8 members continuing on and the remainder of the guild struggling to make any progress at all.

First come, first served? NOT!

Even if a raid is full, sign up. We do not select who is in the run until the sign ups are closed for any particular run. If you do not sign up, your chances of getting into the run drop dramatically.

Thanks to Dixi/Sagaris for the original forum post.

Well, either he's going to whack 'em with a rolling pin or bake him a cake. I don't know. Could go either way with this crew.
